The ruined Augustinian Abbey adjacent to Holyrood House
was built in 1128 by the order of King David I of Scotland.
It has been the site of many royal coronations and marriage ceremonies.
The abbey was destroyed by a mob in the 17th century and the roof of the abbey
collapsed in the 18th century. All that remains is a ruin, but the memories inside shall not fade.
